Reflection
Our concept is“Whakahaumaru”——“Protection ‘’.This is the similarity we found from the three songs choose from Warren’s work(Peaceful Man, Home Land & Sea, Little Things).
We use the same visual rhetoric——the umbrella and the rain across the multiple media platforms to communicate with audiences.
The poster: Try to grab attention by using strong image and handwriting style title with all the necessary information
on it.
The website: Providing all the information related to the plays and the repeating of ticket booking buttons to lead the purchase behaviour.
The motion graphic: Giving audiences the expectation of the plays by telling a story based on the visual element.
As for the elements taken in the visual animation part, there are calming clouds and the moon, and feathers. The falling of feathers not only corresponds to the 'feather dream' in the lyrics of 'peaceful man' but also makes the audience feel a certain 'peace'.Under the suggestion of Klaus, the change of the flower colour in the animation also made the corresponding 'ink rendering' effect----The flowers are the ANZAC poppies used to present the homeland/commemorate the people who died in the war.
The positive side of the project is that we created a visual system that works harmony through the different medias. As a team I had to say we have a lot of communications to ensure things goes smoothly. The negative side was that we figure it was hard in the very beginning to refining the rhetoric from different songs and still facing technical problems to achieve the result when using Figma and AE (Benefit a lot from our tutor Tim and Klaus).
In future, we could improve from the following aspects:
Design: Raise the ability to refining visual rhetoric, looking for more critics and continuous testing the result.
Technical: More practising in personal project with AE and Figma functions.
Collaboration: Finding a better way to fusion different personal design styles.
